Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Ballet Folklorico

Where is the Schaefer Center?

The Schaefer Center is located on the campus of Appalachian State University at 733 Rivers Street, Boone, NC. It is the building formerly known as Farthing Auditorium.

Where should we park?

On performance days, campus parking and traffic officers will be available to assist you with parking. Typically, buses will be asked to park along Rivers Street in front of the Schaefer Center. Please communicate with the parking and traffic officer about your length of stay while parking.

Cars must park in the Rivers Street Parking Deck. Please pre-purchase your parking pass and pick it up at the box office on the day of the performance. Otherwise, bring cash and expect to pay around $5 for parking. Please see http://parking.appstate.edu for more information about parking at Appalachian State University.

Where will we sit?

Groups of ten or more will be assigned seats prior to the performance. Seating charts may be emailed to the main contact at the school just prior to the performance date. Groups of fewer than ten will pick up their tickets at the box office on the morning of the performance and will be escorted in to their seats by an usher. We make every effort to accommodate the needs of your group.

How long will the performance last?

Most APPlause! K-12 Performing Arts Series performances are approximately 60 minutes in length. Occasionally, a performance will run longer than an hour – this will be noted in advance. Please check the details on each performance description for information on specific shows.

How do we schedule lunch or a specific tour before or after our performance?

Please indicate that you would like to be contacted about tours and lunch options when you reserve your tickets.

Can you accommodate students with special needs?

Yes. With proper notice we can provide for a variety of special needs including sign language interpretation, hearing assistance, wheelchair accessible seating and more.

What if we home school?

We invite you to join us! Home school groups will be charged $5 per seat. Payment is expected at the time of reservation. If you are traveling by car, please park in the Rivers Street parking deck. Be sure you download our “Study Guides” to make the most of your visit! Parking passes are available for pre-purchase as well.

What are the arrival procedures?

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of a performance. This will allow adequate time to find your seat and make those last minute trips to the restrooms! Our performances will start on time and once a show has begun, your group will not be seated until there is a break in the action on stage.

What is the cost of admission?

The cost associated with admission are $1, $3 and $5. The same admission is charged for adults and children. If your group chooses an additional activity on campus which incurs expenses, or if your group is travelling by car and parks in the parking deck, you will be charged for separately for those ancillary expenses. Groups of fewer than ten people must prepay $5 per seat for every performance. Parking passes are available for purchase on the morning of the performance. Please call 828-262-6084, ext. 109 for more information.

What are the policies for confirmation and payment?

Once your online reservation has been submitted, the main contact from your school will receive an email confirming receipt of request. This will serve as a reservation form.

The main contact will receive an email a few weeks prior to the performance with details concerning the day of the event and with a link to the study guide.

Immediately following the performance, the main contact will be asked to provide exact numbers of students, school staff and chaperones in attendance. An invoice reflecting the actual number in attendance will be sent to the main contact immediately following each performance.

The main contact is responsible for forwarding this paperwork to the school’s finance office for processing. These are both due no later than the due date listed on the invoice. Payment can be made with check or credit card (Visa or MasterCard).

Groups of fewer than ten people must prepay $5 per seat for every performance. Parking passes are available for purchase on the morning of the performance. Please call 828-262-6084, ext. 109 for more information.

What funding opportunities are available to help us get to the Schaefer Center?

Target Stores are offering 5000 $700 field trip grants to schools this year. Apply at https://corporate.target.com/corporate-responsibility/grants/field-trip-grants between August 1 and September 30.

Please contact (828) 262-6084 ext. 109 for assistance with writing this (or any other) request.

What is the cancellation policy for the APPlause series?

Please notify us as soon as possible if you have to cancel. We will do our best to reschedule your group for a later performance date.
